T Minus 102 days until marriage lift-off. Theknot.com (a wedding website) has this handy dandy ticker that tells you how many days until your wedding. I think for some this is fun, and for others, it incites an internal riot. I'm in that 'fun' stage now, but am sure as the ticker gets into the teens, will start to feel a little frazzled with all there is to do. Steve will probably have to cut me off from theknot.com ticker at that point.
Anyhoo..I digress. It's been a long time since my last update (which sounds awfully familiar to the beginning of my last blog post). We've been out of town, busy and just generally lazy. No other excuses beside that. Tonight I hope to post pictures from our recent out-of-town events, but don't hold me to it.
The big news as of late was the wedding of Dan and Shelly! Dan and Steve are best buds from college and we spent two weekends in Kansas City for the festivities. The first weekend was the ceremonial bachelor party, where the guys played bridge and ate carmel corn (or at least that's the story I heard...) . I spent the weekend celebrating my dear friend Penny's birthday. We both had fun weekends hanging with our respective gangs. I met Lisa and Brownyn's daughter Anni (gotta get props out to the baby!) Shout outs to Mike and Karrin and Brad for providing room and board for our wandering souls. Bowzer was reunited with his mommy and daddy that weekend and is once again reigning over his kingdom at the Lake of the Ozarks.
The weekend after that was time to celebrate the big wedding day! Steve was a groomsmen and it was a really lovely wedding and a rocking (tooo rocking for us near-30 somethings) reception. We're very happy for Dan and Shelly!
We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Lucas clan to Denver for a visit this weekend. Mom, Sally, Leah and Mr. Charlie will be on our doorstep in a matter of days. Be prepared for blog posts of 80 million Charlie pictures after they leave. The fam is coming to visit, see the home, tour the sites and help with associated wedding fun.
My grandma will celebrate her 91st birthday tomorrow. She's the only remaining grandparents between me and Steve and we're very happy to have her with us. Her nickname is 'Go-Go Granny.' Happy Birthday Grandma!
We had the gang over last weekend for a trivial pursuit game night. Our team got blasted to smitherins, which was dismaying as I consider myself a trivia buff. However, my lack of knowledge of 1960s basketball records or song lyrics that John Lennon stole from Chuck Berry handicapped us. A good time was had by all, nonetheless.
We're still hitting the gym and I'm branching out from my devotion to the treadmill and have embraced the elliptical. I'm whaling on my glutes and hope it will pay off. Steve is up to running 6 miles at a time, which is awesome. Our Weight Watchers group is wrapping up our Final Four weight loss challenge. The challenge has been very successful for some (Randy has lost 20+ pounds) and not as much for others (yours truly is down about 2 pounds). But, any loss is a good loss and better than a poke in the eye with a carrot. So, go us!
Enjoy the pics!
Much love,
Hannah
