Time for a blog update!

It has been calm in the lives of Hannah and Steve--a welcome lull from the flurry of wedding related events as of late. Thus, this will not win "most thrilling blog post" of the year award.

Thank you again to everyone who joined us in wedding celebrations or included us in your thoughts. We had a wonderful time seeing the Lucas family and friends at the recent Missouri reception. We're going on two months of married life and it's been treating us very well.

Steve is traveling each week to Charlotte for work. He will probably be getting a break soon and staying in Denver to spend more time with his loving wife! We have a renewed energy with our weight-loss efforts. I'm down 5.6 since the honeymoon, Steve is down 3. All the time I spent on the wedding is now being spent at the gym.

I used the weed whacker for the first time ever this weekend (note: only my 2nd time mowing the lawn). Beside giving the yard a crew cut in a couple places, I'm quite impressed with myself.

We have some exciting activities coming up. My mom will come visit us in late October and we'll take a jaunt up in the mountains. Steve is turning the big 3-0 on October 22!!!! The weekend after that, we'll head to Columbia for a Mizzou football game. He's super pumped about that. For Thanksgiving, we'll visit my family for the traditional Lucas Family Smorgasbord. We are being wild and crazy for Christmas and have rented a house up in the mountains. Steve's parents will come and spend a cozy Rocky Mountain Christmas with us (cue John Denver music). Steve and his dad will ski, whereas I have banned all skiing from my life, so Dee and I will relax, shop and sightsee while the guys are on the slopes.

All of the meat that was bought for the 'non-BBQ' BBQ during our wedding weekend will be put to good use this weekend as we have a neighborhood labor day party. Finally, we will regain freezer space!!!!!

I'm quite pleased that fall is just around the corner. My fall flavored candles have made their debut and the house is filled with the delightful smells of pumpkin, apple cinnamon and cider. Oh, and I'm also totally excited for the new season of "The Office." It makes my heart happy!

Charlie!

So, fancy dressing must run in the family. Check out my nephew Charlie, sporting a handsome clip-on tie that really brings out the colors of his Tigger jumpsuit. He is pointing to his most current obsession, the lightswitch. Thomas Edison has nothing on this baby!


























And now, for his next act...

Charlie demonstrates how he will continue the long line of Lucas heritage of doing silly things and hurting himself. Say, for instance, like when an 18 month old decides to climb a ladder. Or, say for instance, when his 27 year old aunt gashes her finger so hard on a can lid that she passes out the next day when changing the band aid.

It's a proud heritage. One that should not be taken lightly. Thank you Charlie, for carrying the torch.
