Ready, Set, Go.....

We're outie 5000!!!! Off to the great state of Missouri. Yippee! It's only my second trip home since I moved to Colorado in May of 2004. So you could say that I'm pretty excited. It will be a whirlwind trip. We're going to be hitting all parts of the state it seems. KC, STL, and the Lake of the Ozarks we feel our presence. Like the force...

We're looking forward to seeing all our friends and family. Hope we have a safe trip and we'll see you all this weekend!!!!

A Weekend in Review!

Hi everyone!

Hope everyone had a great weekend---here's a recap of what we did:

Friday Night--Star Wars 3 Night!!! Randy, Steve and I stood in line and watched Star Wars 3 on the Giant Screen. It was really great---a very entertaining movie! There was one person dressed up as Princess Lea, but the rest of the crowd was mostly just nice, normal nerds, like us.
Saturday--I lost 1.6 and Steve lost .8 at our Weight Watchers meeting--huzzah! We did lots of housework, but the big happening of the day was buying furniture for the house. Yay!

We went to American Furniture Warehouse (think Benchmark and Nebraska Furniture Mart) and bought a sofa, loveseat, entertainment center, coffee table, end tables, sofa table and a really freaking big mirror. We've been planning to buy this furniture for a couple months, so took the plunge. It will be delivered after we move into the new house. We love the stuff and came in under budget. We have a newspaper ad of the sofa, so we'll bring it home to MO for everyone to see.

I am doing the room designs for decorating for each room and Steve is planning on the deck he's building with his dad. Good times!

Sunday--We went to the pool for this first time this year and got ourselves kinda burnt. We did have an interesting time at the pool--saw a man in speedos who changed from his speedo to his shorts under a towel on his lounge chair, a woman with a really obviously fake chest, a pregnant girl rubbing tanning oil on her belly and sunning herself in her about 6-7 month pregnant state. Interesting stuff.

We visited the house with Randy and showed him the place. They have added siding to about half of the house (the bottom half of the house is brick, the top half is composite wood siding), put in the windows, have the materials for the roof, and put in the stairs. They also messed up and gave us a wall with an entertainment center and fire place that should be a blank recessed wall (we can't fit the big tv in the slot they have for the television, so that setup won't work). So, they're going to have to demo that wall--kinda a pain in the butt. We went to Lowe's with Randy and looked at garage door openers and ceiling fans. Randy bought a mirror, table and lamp set for 60% off! Good times!

The Clubhouse for the Reception

This is a view of the clubhouse patio area. We'll set up tables for the reception on the outside deck. It wraps all the way around the house and looks out onto the mountains. We'll have an evening wedding so we can watch the sunset during the reception! (Or at least, that's the plan!!)

Another Fun-Filled Weekend!

As another Sunday night comes to end, it is time to review the weekend at a glance.

On Saturday, my sister Sally and nephew Charlie were released from the hospital and headed home. Mom tells me that he's a delight, except for when you try to change his diaper or his clothes. Then he starts to wail. But all in all, a five star baby thus far. If you want to see pics, go to the Charlie page on www.top5ive.com. Friday night was an action packed night at the Brunswick Zone! Randy (see Husker Hysteria blog), Steve and I decided some bowling was in order, so we packed up and headed to the ultra-sheek 48 lane Brunswick Zone. There was an hour wait on bowling, so we headed over to the arcade for a raucous game of air hockey. While there, we noticed quite possibly ones of the geekiest teens known on the planet. This kid, probably around 14, was engaged in a dance-off---with himself. He was on the Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME machine and had been dancing long enough at our arrival that his shirt was completley soaked through with sweat. He had a sweat towel that he kept next to him and would wipe his drenched face every couple minutes. He was quite the dancer, but reeked of nerd-ness. A group of like aged girls came by and mocked him and I felt badly for him. So, he spent his Friday night paying to dance really quickly by himself while on-lookers gawked at him. Poor feller.

Anyhoo--had two spirited games of bowling. Randy definitley wins the best bowler of the evening award (probably the only sporting event where Nebraska will beat Missouri!!!!!) Steve and I had a sad beginning match. I scored 56 pins and Steve was about 68 while Randy was around 180. In usual Hannah fashion, I then rocketed into the second game with three strikes in a row, bringing me to my all time high bowling score---126! Steve dramtically increased his score too. Good times.

We went to Weight Watchers on Saturday morning as usual, but didn't stay for the meeting because the guys had to work. I lost the 1.6 I gained last week and Steve had a small loss (cursed Cinco de Mayo!). He went to work and I cleaned house, did laundry. We then headed off to the home for a home buyer BBQ.

On Wednesday night when we prematurely visited the house, there had been no construction. We weren't expecting much to have been accomplished by Saturday, but we were wrong! The frame was being assembled and the workers were putting the plywood on. (see www.top5ive.com for pics). It was joyous! Our house is becoming real! We went back tonight in the evening so we could wander around without getting in the workers' way. Super duper exciting. We both almost busted a gut.

We were told that they are pretty positive the house will be done by the end of June. They advised us to lock our interest rate for our loan (we can lock 60 days out), so we'll do that tomorrow. yay!

We also met three sets of neighbors, all who seem very nice. While enjoying a free bratwurst (reminds me of Dad's BBQ) we met Don and Jenny, a young couple with no kids and two dogs. They are orginally from Wisconsin, but moved here about 7 years ago. They will live a block or so away. We met Sandy and Paul, who will live two houses down. Paul is orginally from India and moved to the states 10 years ago. Sandy is Indian, but has lived in America all of her life. They don't have kids either and this is their first home. Finally, we met Susie and her kids Brandon and Lauren. They will live two houses down from us also. They were nice and I think Brandon thinks Steve and I are pretty cool. So, seems like we'll have a nice bunch of neighbors.

We watched the movie "Swimming Pool" last night. Good thing we rented that from the library and didn't spend any money on that stinker! French people are just weird. Nuff said about that.

We cleaned out the garage today in a treasure hunt for more crap to sell on eBay! It's sparkling clean now and we've got a bed full of stuff to put up for sale to raise moola for the house.

One's a new grandma and one's got new grandma envy! We love them both very much. Here's to wishing them both a wonderful Mother's Day. And to the new mom we wish her good luck and we both can't wait to meet baby "Cinco" aka Chuckiebob aka Charlie.

Baby Charlie Has Arrived!!!

In the wee hours of this morning, my older sister Sally gave birth to my first nephew ever--Charlie!

Charles Robert Anderson, born exactly at midnight on May 5, 2005. Weighing in at 9 lbs. 3 oz. and 20 inches long.

This kid is going to be special...not just because he'll have the dashing good looks of the Lucas clan or the two coolest aunts in the world. Check out these neat Charlie facts....

He was born at midnight on 05/05/05. He was born 1 minute after the anniversary of my Grandpa's death. That's a pretty neat thing. Now, Grandpa died 27 years ago. Look at those numbers 2 and 7. 7 minus 2 equals 5. Thus keeping with the tradition of 5. Also, if you take 9 lbs and divide it by 3 ounces--that equals 3. Now, look at the 20 inches long. Add the 3 and the 2 and you get 5. Add the 0 from the 20 and you still get 5. COINCIDENCE?!?!? I THINK NOT!

It's my Charlie Conspiracy Theroy.
I'm going to think of more wacky things involving Charlie and the number 5!

Plus, my twin sister, Leah, a drama teacher, is debuting her school musical "You're a Good Kid Charlie Brown" today. Charlie was born on the premier of the Charlie Brown musical. And, I could be wrong, but I think this will be the 5th drama production of Leah's. Hmmm... ANOTHER 5! Weird stuff.

So, I'm so glad Charlie has arrived. I can't wait to meet him. We'll be sure to post pics of him on www.top5ive.com once we get them. WAIT A MINUTE....top 5 .com....another 5!

Okay, my stint as the crazy aunt has begun.

Anyhoo--here are other happenings in our life.

We went to visit the house last night in hopes that the would have started working on the frame. No such luck. Hopefully they'll get rolling on it any time now. I don't think we can wait much longer!!! After our outing, we ate at Chik-fil-a (Steve was very happy about that!) and patronized the newest Goodwill store near our home. A good time was had by all.

We're still working hard at selling our old crap on Ebay. We're raising money for the house left and right!

I think there are more things to report, but all I can currently think about is the number 5!
